Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Coding at School ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses and protects information when you visit codingatschool.com (the "Site"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

Who we are

Coding at School is an educational resource website for teachers of Computer Science. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, you can contact us via our profile at @CompAtSch. (Site operators should replace this with a dedicated privacy contact email before going live.)

What information we collect

  • Analytics data — if you consent, Google Analytics 4 collects anonymised information such as pages visited, approximate location (country/region), device and browser type, and how you reached the Site.
  • Technical data — our hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages) may process your IP address and request metadata to deliver the Site securely and protect against abuse.
  • We do not run user accounts, collect payment details, or sell personal data.

Cookies and consent

We do not set any non-essential cookies until you give consent. When you first visit, a banner lets you Accept or Decline analytics cookies. We use Google Consent Mode, which keeps analytics storage disabled by default until you accept. You can change your choice at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer. For more detail, see our Cookie Policy.

Legal basis for processing

Where we process analytics data, our legal basis is your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time. Where we process technical data to keep the Site secure and available, our legal basis is our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)).

How we use information

  • To understand which resources are useful and improve the Site.
  • To maintain the security, performance and availability of the Site.

Sharing and third parties

We use the following processors, each with their own privacy terms:

  • Google Analytics — Google Privacy Policy.
  • Cloudflare (hosting/CDN) — Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.

Data retention

Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics settings (typically up to 14 months). We do not keep separate copies of personal data.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, rectify or erase your data, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Children's privacy

This Site is aimed at teachers and educators. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

External links

The Site links to third-party resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external websites.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows when it was last revised.
