From Gamer to Racing Driver

For those gamers in your class that play games dreaming of it being the real thing, this story is a sign that maybe it isn’t completely out of reach.

Jann Mardenborough, a shy boy who spent a lot of time playing Gran Turismo has won a competition to race at the Duabi 24 hour event.

He is part of a marketing event from Sony and Nissan who wanted to experiment to see if gamers could make the step up to the real thing. Mardenborough was one of 90,000 entries who got to the final 8 and prove themselves at Brands Hatch where he went on to win the event.

He becomes the third driver in the world to be given this opportunity. The first, Spaniard Lucas Ordoñez, went on to be signed up by Nissan after his performance led to a podium finish.
